The Impacts of Area-Based Policies on Essential Retail in Vulnerable Areas

Since the 1990s, urban regeneration has emerged as main initiative of European Territorial Development Strategy. A series integrated policies have subsequently been implemented to redress socio-territorial imbalance in areas by improving structure opportunities available inhabitants. The aim current paper is evaluate effect such proximity on “essential retail trade” neighborhoods Andalusia. quasi-experimental methodology was applied using Difference Differences (DiD) technique order ascertain changes attributed intervention projects. In addition, change trends were analyzed repeat measurements models for each calculated indicator and different considered contexts. findings show an increase density diversity essential businesses experimental control areas.
